If you're reading this, you probably already have a blog or are wanting to start one. For many of us, running a blog comes as a bit of a learning curve so I thought I would share with you a few tips I have learnt along the way.

Be Relatable
By being relatable, I don't mean writing things because you think it's what people want to see. Write because you want to, otherwise it will seem forced and won't be of any interest to anyone. However you can be relatable by writing posts which you yourself would want to read, write from the heart. Imagine reading a post and knowing exactly where the blogger is coming from, make people feel like that about your posts!

Be Realistic
Whether you're blogging as a hobby, or you're wanting to turn it into a source of income, be realistic. You're not going to start making millions from your blog overnight, and you're not necessarily going to have many readers or followers to start with, so give it time. On the other hand, if you're blogging as a hobby, be aware what it can turn into. It's not guaranteed, but your blog may go somewhere and you need to be prepared for what that entails if it happens to you.

Channel Your Motivation
If you write a post which you're really impressed with, or if it gets a lot of views, be proud of yourself! Use that buzz to give you motivation to write more great posts, when you're feeling in the mood to write, make the most of it! But remember to give yourself a break otherwise you posts will start to lack quality.

Network and Experiment
Read other blogs and take inspiration from them, look at things which work for other bloggers and give it a go yourself. Don't copy anyones posts or compare you blog to theirs, but by all means experiment and give something a go. If it doesn't work for you then don't worry, your blog is personal and not everything works for everyone.

Most importantly, write your posts because you want to, write them because they mean something to you and keep it personal. Readers can tell whether or not your posts have really come from the heart.
